Vacuum Cleaner

Interactive design project with Meeri Mäkäräinen, made in Media Lab Helsinki PAJA-workshop

Vacuum Cleaner helps children (and adults) to learn how to clean a floor with a vacuum cleaner. Inside the vacuum cleaner is a light sensor connected to Arduino-microcontroller, which is connected to Processing-software. The light sensor recognized white spots from the floor (made out of a computer display) and cleans it if one is fast enough, if not the spot get stuck.

“Randomalized” website concept

During my internship at Van GOG Amsterdam, I was asked to create a new house style concept for Van GOG. The design was required to be, “not designed” black and white, but still something new and unique. My solution to the challenge was to totally randomize the house style, where every element would be changed randomly and the computer would do the design. So, every time you visit the Van GOG -website, it will be different, every time you got a print from Van GOG it’s also different. In some parts of the house style concept was too futuristic, but in some part, like in website it worked:

This is the project I worked with in Van GOG. I had an idea of a flexible logo system, where static text circles are connected with different kind of wavy lines depending on a space.
